Look, we know that the year that the Texans and Cowboys had still stings. That doesn’t mean we here at Wiesner of Huntsville aren’t absolutely champing at the bit to see Super Bowl XLVIII, and GMC is getting in on the action of helping those attending Sunday’s showdown have a truly Super week.
From now until Saturday, those in New York will be able to visit Super Bowl Boulevard Engineered by GMC, which can be found on Broadway between 34th and 47th streets. That’s right: Super Bowl Boulevard will cover thirteen whole blocks of the Big Apple, and it will have more than enough excitement to satisfy even the most rabid fans.
As the NFL’s virtual map reveals, there will be a number of displays and attractions all along Broadway, including:
Super Bowl Virtual Teater
NFL Rush Zone and NFL Play 60
Autograph and Concert Stage
Toboggan Run engineered by GMC
Lombardi Trophy Display
Field Goal Kick
Displays and Booths from brands such as GMC, Bridgestone, McDonald’s, and Xbox One
In addition to autograph signings and concerts, the full GMC vehicle family will be on display including the brand-new 2015 Yukon and the 2014 Sierra Denali. The new Yukon and Sierra Denali were also prominently featured during last week’s Pro Bowl festivities. At the conclusion of last Sunday’s Pro Bowl game, MVPs Nick Foles (QB, Philadelphia Eagles) and Derrick Johnson (LB, Kansas City Chiefs) each won the keys to one of the new GMC vehicles.
So if you intend to venture to the frigid north for this weekend’s big game and find yourself with some time to visit Super Bowl Boulevard Engineered by GMC, be sure to snap some pictures for us. Especially if you end up getting to ride on that wonderful-looking toboggan.
The 2014 North American International Auto Show, taking place all week in Detroit, Michigan, housed the best-of-the-best of the automotive industry for spectators to see. In this group, of course, was the 2015 GMC Canyon, which made its official debut at the show. There’s no doubt this midsize pickup truck will dominate its segment of the market later this year.
The Canyon will be available in crew cab and extended cab models, and will feature a standard 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine with 193 horsepower and automatic transmission. Some of the safety features will include a rearview camera, trailer sway control, forward collision alert, lane departure warning, and more. You’ll be more impressed, though, with the Canyon’s tech features, like an eight-inch color touch screen, IntelliLink, Bluetooth connectivity, and the list goes on. There’s not much more you could ask for in the 2015 GMC Canyon.
What do you think about the new midsize pickup truck? We sure can’t wait to lay our eyes on it when it goes on sale later this year. Check it out at the Detroit Auto Show here.
Following a recent 5-Star Overall Vehicle Score for the 2014 Buick LaCrosse, General Motors has yet again scored another win (or two). GM trucks have officially taken the safety lead. The all-new 2014 GMC Sierra and the 2014 Chevy Silverado recently earned 5-Star Overall Vehicle Scores for safety from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Both trucks scored big on their New Car Assessment Program.
All cab configurations for the Silverado and Sierra each have the highest possible Overall Vehicle Score under their belt, making them the first pickup trucks to win these safety scores since the requirements were made more difficult to achieve (in 2011). Regardless, we couldn’t be prouder of our GM trucks.
With the power you want to finish your toughest job comes safety features you need to stay secure in your truck. Just a few of the safety features you’ll find in the Silverado and Sierra include:
Lane Departure Warning
Steel frames throughout
Standard lap belt pretensioners
Four-wheel antilock disc brakes
Available OnStar services and capabilities
Six standard air bags with a 360-degree sensor system
What are you waiting for? Check out the all-new 2014 GMC Sierra or Chevrolet Silverado today at Wiesner of Huntsville!
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is the nation’s largest nonprofit organization working to protect families and their loved ones from underage drinking and drunk driving. It all started by a mother whose daughter was the victim of a drunk driver, and has grown to a nation-wide effort to Eliminate Drunk Driving. It’s not hard to see why General Motors would want to support this cause.
GM is donating $150,000 to MADD to help educate and inform families as well as teens about what underage drinking and drunk driving can do to people and their families. In 2011, drunk driving killed more than 9,800 people and injured about 315,000 in the America. MADD can help by servicing one victim every 8.6 minutes at no charge by providing counseling, medical help, legal support, and more. GM sees the importance in helping this effort and since 1995 has donated grants to MADD totaling nearly $4 million to support their recovery work.
MADD, GM, and we here at Wiesner of Huntsville cannot stress enough the importance of having a designated driver at all times. If you have young teens of your own, be sure to aid in this drinking prevention by educating them about underage drinking. Together, we can make a difference.
With the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade on the verge of debut, we here at Wiesner of Huntsville thought it would be the perfect time to feature the well-known and luxurious SUV, and some hints we’ve heard about it in the news lately.
For one, there’s word out on the internet streets that Cadillac is considering building a larger SUV-crossover and using the Escalade name to brand it. However, no decisions have been made final yet. On the upside, though, executives at Cadillac are confident that the Escalade has plenty of value and branding power to carry newer potential vehicles under its name.
As you may have heard the 2015 Cadillac Escalade is about to debut, and is expected to be much less grandiose than normal. In order to differentiate from competitors like the Tahoe and Yukon, the new Escalade is predicted to have distinguished changes, including a redesigned front end and full LED tail lamps that extend from the bumper to the top of the tailgate. The interior has been redesigned as well to include new technology and a more unique look.
What do you think about these new changes? We can’t wait to see it!
The short list for the 2014 North American Car of the Year has been revealed (and truck). And, General Motors has great odds for winning in both categories. The list, which includes 12 cars and 12 trucks/utilities, has a total of six GM vehicles. This is twice the amount of any other auto maker.
The list of 24 nominees will be narrowed down to three in each category in December. And the winners will be announced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
In the car category, General Motors was nominated for the Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and Chevrolet Impala. GM models in the truck/utility category include the Buick Encore, Chevrolet Silverado, and GMC Sierra.
Last year, GM won the 2013 North American Car of the Year with the Cadillac ATS. Even if none of the GM cars or trucks win, which we hope doesn’t happen, it is still remarkable to have so many vehicles on the list. The only criteria for this award is to have a new or significantly redesigned model and have it be on sale in 2013.
Stop by Wiesner of Huntsville and check out all of the nominated GM models today.
Everyone knows there are only a few big players in the pickup truck industry, and with numerous years worth of awards behind its belt, it’s undeniable that General Motors (GM) is the one and only, ultimate reigning, official King of Trucks.
Of course, we wouldn’t say this without showing a little more proof behind the name. Recently, GM has earned the crown for most horsepower in a mainstream pickup truck with a 6.2-liter V8 engine, making them the maker of the most powerful light-duty truck engines. This monster engine is available in both the Chevrolet Silverado and the GMC Sierra, both notable big-time players in the pickup industry. The engine pushes out an incredible 420 horsepower with 460 lb-ft. of torque, running right past big competitors like the Dodge Ram and Ford F-150.
If you’re in the market for one of these heavy-duty trucks, expect to go with trims including the LTZ or Denali, but rest assured that your towing capabilities will be out of this world. Get your hands on a bad boy with this engine, and you’ll be riding high with 12,000 pounds of towing capability behind you. Unbeatable.
The University of Texas can be explained by outstanding academics, the orange and white spread of colors, the official Longhorn bull, obviously some good old-fashioned football, and now, the Chevy Silverado. That’s right—the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has signed on to become the Official Truck of the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Exes, and the Official Truck of Bevo, the Longhorns’ mascot.
The official multi-year sponsorship agreement was signed last week by Chevrolet, the UT Athletics program, and the Ex-Students’ Association of the University of Texas, better known as the Texas Exes. This sealed the deal that the Silverado would become the heart of any and all “truck country” occasions at UT sporting events, and gives the Silverado numerous opportunities to be featured, including pulling Bevo’s trailer to and from events.
UT and Chevrolet are thrilled about their new partnership, and we are too here at Wiesner of Huntsville. The 2014 Chevy Silverado is one of the best-selling trucks in the U.S., and has been engineered and designed to represent everything we love down here in the state of Texas—big tires, big engines, and big towing capability. We can’t wait to see more of the Silverado at those UT football games. Go Longhorns!
Last week, General Motors announced the up and coming arrival of two former midsize pickup trucks: the Chevrolet Colorado and the GMC Canyon, both who failed to see a 2013 model. Nonetheless, GM has high expectations for these trucks, which are expected to be improved and enhanced with versatility and fantastic fuel efficiency. It will be the reintroduction of the midsize pickup truck into a market full of big, strong, body-building large pickups, so the new and improved Colorado and Canyon should be a success.
Only a nose-to-nose photo of the Colorado and Canyon together was released, but from what GM says, both trucks will undergo vast improvements when they begin production next year. These trucks, along with the 2014 Silverado and Sierra 1500, will give GM one of the most powerful and complete truck lineups of all time. General Motors will be even more of a force to be reckoned with.
What do you think? Are you ready for the next midsize pickup truck?
