When it comes to testing products for consumers, practically no organization is more trusted than Consumer Reports. That is why it is so exciting that the magazine named the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado as the best full-size pickup. The Silverado took the top prize with a score of 81 points.
The Silverado impressed the judges with its high fuel economy, trailering capabilities, and convenience features, such as a low step-in height. Consumer Reports tested a four-door crew cab Silverado with four-wheel drive and a 6.2-liter V8 engine. This configuration delivers 16 mpg overall, which gives is a best-in-class rating 1 mpg better than the Ram 1500. This could ultimately save you at least 1 trip to the gas station per year, which is more money in your pocket.
Helping you get your work done is the Silverado’s class leading trailering capability of 11,500 pounds. The Silverado also has a large bed which can handle a 2,007-pound payload. You will also enjoy its easy-use tailgate with rear bumper steps.

The University of Texas can be explained by outstanding academics, the orange and white spread of colors, the official Longhorn bull, obviously some good old-fashioned football, and now, the Chevy Silverado. That’s right—the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado has signed on to become the Official Truck of the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Exes, and the Official Truck of Bevo, the Longhorns’ mascot.
The official multi-year sponsorship agreement was signed last week by Chevrolet, the UT Athletics program, and the Ex-Students’ Association of the University of Texas, better known as the Texas Exes. This sealed the deal that the Silverado would become the heart of any and all “truck country” occasions at UT sporting events, and gives the Silverado numerous opportunities to be featured, including pulling Bevo’s trailer to and from events.
UT and Chevrolet are thrilled about their new partnership, and we are too here at Wiesner of Huntsville. The 2014 Chevy Silverado is one of the best-selling trucks in the U.S., and has been engineered and designed to represent everything we love down here in the state of Texas—big tires, big engines, and big towing capability. We can’t wait to see more of the Silverado at those UT football games. Go Longhorns!
